Christmas 2018

Your FISTC Board 2018

WE HAVE MADE THE FISTC GREAT AGAIN !!!

Indeed, the FISTC European Championships Dryland that took place in Abertamy (CZ) on 8-11th November 2018 have been a great and totally successful event.

Thanks to the perfect organisation by Roman Habasko, with his friends, his club and the support of the Czech Federation, as well as the Czech Kennel Club, we have had an almost perfect FISTC Championship in Abertamy. With 174 participants from 15 different countries coming from Russia to Portugal and from Denmark to Romania, who have been able to compete on perfect trails in a really superb area, where in fact most participants would like now to come back to race on snow.

On Thursday 8th November, after the FISTC and Vet checks, we had a very nice opening ceremony with all mushers and the music band, walking through the city to the place where the authorities, and the organisers, Roman Habasko and Franco Mannato could welcome all participants. The opening ceremony continued with a nice buffet and drinks for everybody.

Friday 9th November. First heat, the weather was cold and foggy, but perfect for our dogs. The races started with the Mid Distance Classes where 28 starters were competing from O class to Bike 1 dog class, on a really beautiful 20km trail. The other 146 participants were competing in all the sprint classes on trails going from 12 to 5 kms.

On Saturday the weather was slightly sunnier but still cold enough for our dogs and once again most mushers and all dogs enjoyed the trails. After the race we had a nice musher evening, despite the organisers had to move it due to a fire that damaged the big room where the dinner should have taken place. A nice atmosphere and good food and drinks, this is what mushers needed and what they could enjoy.

On Sunday morning the race re-started with a foggy weather, but all competitors had the same target... Win the race and the European Champion title. At the end of the race all of them where satisfied with an excellent three days competition perfectly organised that finished with a remarkable pricing ceremony.

Many thanks to the organising team, that was perfectly orchestrated by Roman Habasko, and also many thanks to the city of Abertamy and the whole community that supported our Championships. Many thanks also to the many sponsors that helped making this great event a big success.
